The Choir School
Learn, sing, and grow together
Do you know a child who loves to sing? Why not consider joining the Grace Church Choir School!
There has been a choir at Grace Church for over 160 years, beginning as a men and boys’ chorus in 1854. Today, our Choristers receive a thorough yet enjoyable musical training .
Choristers have the chance to learn about vocal technique, music history and theory as well as developing their leadership skills and confidence in a safe and effective educational environment. They also have the chance to progress and further expand their education through use of the Royal School of Church Music Voice for Life curriculum.
As one of the few programs in the area, Grace Church is excited to be able to have a vibrant and growing Choir School program. Our choristers come from a diverse range of backgrounds and all children are considered for the program. There is no cost to parents for the program at Grace Church.
Choristers offer music in both our liturgy and at concerts and special events. In recent years, Choristers have been selected and invited to sing on tours and camps such as RSCM Newport and Cape May residential courses, many attending on scholarships.
Choristers currently rehearse at Grace Church on each Thursday from September through June during the school year and sing on the first Sunday of every month, as well as at special events. It is our hope that as the program expands, so too will the Choristers’ offerings. An electronic calendar of required dates is available for parents to complete in advance of each semester.
We expect Choristers to make Grace Church a priority, as it is important that not only individuals grow in ability and confidence but that the entire group can continue to develop as a whole. We welcome new choristers throughout the year. Parents who wish their child to sing at the Choir School of Grace Church should contact firstname.lastname@example.org. Your child will be invited to attend a Thursday rehearsal so that they can share what Grace Church has to offer and vice versa!
