The Choir School at
Grace Church in Newark

Mission

To create and nurture musical artistry and leadership among Newark-area youth; to offer the gift of fine music to the community of Newark and surrounding areas; and to foster the future of classical music in Newark, the Episcopal Church, and in the parish of Grace Church.

Overview

The Choir School at Grace Church in Newark trains children and youth in singing, develops leadership, and fosters character. Founded in 2012, the Choir School is a re-imagining of the Choir of Boys which could be heard at Grace Church for over 150 years. It is now open to both boys and girls ages 8 and up, and gives children of all ability levels the opportunity to participate in a great musical tradition over a century old! Students of the choir school will see their leadership, discipline, and character blossom, and will receive invaluable musical training which they will appreciate for the rest of their lives. This program is affiliated with the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM America) and develops musicianship through RSCM’s Voice for Life program.

The Choir School meets on Thursdays at 4:30 p.m. and on Saturdays at 11:00 a.m.
