Grace Church in Newark was founded in 1837 to be the standard-bearer for Anglo-Catholicism in northern New Jersey. It is a parish of the Episcopal Diocese of Newark. Grace Church has a history of fine liturgy and music. The first prominent organist was Samuel Augustus Ward, who wrote the famous melody for "America the Beautiful."
